World Bowl bound....

well, we did it! the Amsterdam Admirals are going to the World Bowl! i'm pretty pumped about that. it should be a good time had by all. we killed Hamburg this afternoon. now i'm resting and eating a doner kabap. it is like a gyro, but not so much. i'm going to watch Return of the King as well. have a great night everyone, i know i will.

ok, new movie and a story....

well, the new movie is a link on the right to a funny thing i did while at the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam. by the way, Heineken tastes great in Amsterdam, which is where it is brewed. it also tasted great in St. Lucia where there is also a brewery. it just happens to be where we went on our honeymoon, so i had it there too.

the funny story is from the game last week. we were getting ready to pray like we do before games, when one of the players says he wants to tell us all something that he's been thinking about. i get ready for some confession or of a story of his changed heart, and he lets off a train of F-bombs about getting ready for this game and how this is like the play-offs now. he said we needed to not be thinking of the extra money we will get for winning the World Bowl, but of the FAT CONTRACT that we will get when we go home if we play well. basically saying it was all about money. it was hard not to say something to him, but it was right before the game and it was uncomfortable enough already. so we prayed and went out and played. it was just strange hearing so many swear words right as we were coming before the Lord in prayer. very uncomfortable. it actually made me feel dirty.

anywho, i'm also putting a picture up in a second of my thigh bruise. don't worry sweetie, it doesn't hurt. later....

monday night.....

so, monday night. i started the game at left guard and played pretty well. i was pretty gassed since i haven't played in about 7 weeks. i got a thigh bruise at the end of the first quarter, that sucked. i finished the drive but they took me out and i played the fourth quarter. it was good to get back in there. i needed the contact and the plays. i'm feeling good. my thigh is tight, but better than yesterday. i'm keeping it wrapped and i'm icing it a lot. i have a funny story, but i'll put it up later. my battery is going to die.

game time....

well, monday night is just around the corner and my first start as an Amsterdam Admiral! i'm really looking forward to playing again, it's been so long. practice has been good this week. we had an extra day so i got some extra preparation which is good since i'm starting at left guard instead of left tackle like i was when i left. my good friend Trevor Hutton was injured in the last game and we had to do some reshuffling on the o-line.

it's been tough not having Kristie and Caleb over here. to add to it, my phone card just expired and i have no way of calling her this evening. if you read this honey, i have team movie at 8:30pm. i'll be in my room after that.
i got a care package this week from my beautiful bride! she and caleb sent me TWO bags of Reesey cups! a card and a letter/poster from caleb, written in crayon. she also sent home made cookies, and some more posters to make my room look more 'homey'. i really like it all, especially the posters and the letter. i also got pictures of caleb! he is getting bigger and bigger. kristie told me that he is pushing himself up to sitting now and he will pull himself up to his feet too! i'm so excited! i hope he waits to walk 'til i get back.

well, i'm back in Utrecht/Amsterdam. i got in last week and did not dress for the game this past weekend. but i'm back in the game this week. we play on monday night at home. good stuff.

i took some pictures while i was in Amsterdam today. i went on the Heineken tour and saw the Van Gogh museum. good times. have fun taking a look.

i'll write some more stories this week. i love you kris! i love you caleb!
